Do You Have Content on Your Website?

Because you should!

I hear you asking – but Crunch, I’m already putting out content on Facebook and Instagram and LinkedIn and Pinterest and even TikTok! Why do I need to add another thing to my list?? 😭

Simple. Because none of these platforms belong to you.

Where does your audience hang out? Instagram? Facebook? Are you connecting with them on LinkedIn, or sharing inspiration on Pinterest?

Now, imagine for a second that you get banned *knock on wood* Facebook or Instagram. Or LinkedIn closes down. Or your account on Pinterest gets suspended. What are you going to do? How are you going to get in touch with all the people who follow you, your potential clients?

The truth is, you can’t.💁🏾‍♀️

Now, while we all hope that all of our social media platforms keep operating for years more to come (if nothing but to make the time and effort we put into mastering these platforms worth it), there’s no guarantee that they will. And these are privately owned companies – they could decide to close down operations tomorrow and there would be nothing we could do about it.

That’s why it’s SO important to have content on your OWN website. Because that’s a platform you own, and nobody can kick you off it! (Except if you fail to pay your website hosting fees, but that’s not going to happen). You can post pictures, blogs, rants, videos, and just about anything you want on your website – and nobody is going to take it down!

And since we’re talking about getting your audience on a platform you own, for that same reason – it’s also a great idea to get them on your email list as well. Just because if these social platforms shut down (or you decide you’ve had enough of them), you’ll still have a way to get in touch with and keep communicating with your audience.

What’s the best way to get people on your email list, you ask? Share great content on your website! Blog posts, freebies, downloadble PDFs, how-to guides – all of this is great content to be sharing on your website, and it’ll will pay off in the future!

So, yes, my friend – you do need content on your website, and it’s a great idea to start putting it out sooner rather than later. You can thank me when socials eventually collapse 😉
